The Community Foundation of West Tennessee is an independent, public charity dedicated to strengthening our region by stewarding charitable gifts that support local needs and nonprofit organizations. We are part of a national network of over 900 community foundations, and we are one of five in the state of Tennessee.

The Community Foundation allows your clients to achieve their charitable goals without the cost or ongoing responsibilities of creating a private foundation of nonprofit. They receive tax advantages, experienced philanthropy guidance, investment management, and streamlined grant administration. Yes. Depending on the type of fund established, donors may select from several investment options designed by our Board of Trustees to support long-term growth while aligning with varying risk tolerances. Please refer to the Investment Options resource for more information.

Many advisors maintain long-term relationships with their clients even after a fund is established at the Community Foundation. Our Board of Trustees reviews and supports relationships with professional advisors, and we value collaboration that benefits both clients and advisors. Yes. An administrative fee is assessed monthly on all funds. For the current fee schedule, please refer to our Administrative Fees.
These fees allow the Community Foundation to serve as a trusted partner and provide a full range of services, including IRS and state compliance (audit, Form 990, 1099s, annual reporting, and charitable solicitation requirements), access to an online donor portal with real-time fund information, and the expertise of our experienced and credentialed staff.

Yes. When a fund is established, one or more fund representatives are named and authorized to recommend grants and review fund activity. Donors may choose to include family members or other trusted individuals in this structure.

Fund holders have access to a secure online donor portal, similar to online banking, where they can view contributions, track activity, and submit grant recommendations. Custom reporting is also available upon request.
