Answers to your questions

  • My client and I have developed a long-standing relationship. If they donate to the Community Foundation, do I lose that relationship with those funds?

    The Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees reviews our relationships with investment advisors. Should you like to inquire on becoming a partner with us, contact our staff at (731) 984-2140 for more information.
  • Does the Community Foundation charge a fee?

    Yes, an Administrative Fee is charged monthly for all funds. For the current fee schedule, click on the Administrative Fees link in the Advisors Toolkit for more information.
  • What services are included in the fee?

    The Community Foundation strives to be a valuable resource and trusted partner for our funds. The administrative fee charged provides funds with services such as: Compliance with IRS and State filings – Audit, 990, 1099s, Annual Report, Charitable, Solicitations, Access to online donor portal for real-time fund information, Knowledge base in our staff who are credentialed in their field of expertise.
  • My client would like to involve their family in their philanthropy. Can they include other fund representatives?

    Yes, when a fund is started with the Community Foundation, fund representatives are named who will be the authorized individuals to recommend distributions and review fund activity. The donor specifies which representatives should have this access.
  • How will the fund details be reported to my client?

    The Community Foundation offers funds access to a donor portal much like online banking. They will be able to see their gift and payment activity and submit requests for distributions. We also offer custom reporting upon request.

The Community Foundation of West Tennessee allows many of our clients to give where their heart and passions lie.  It serves as “a one-stop shop” for managing our client’s charitable giving, offering convenience, flexibility and tax advantages. It offers an immediate tax deduction and gift receipt upon donation, as well as the opportunity to make grant recommendations to the charities they care about and support over time.  It’s a great partnership for our clients, charities, the communities involved and the Community Foundation.
